IA agents under surveillance and AI Overviews: two alerts for independents

Two information published on October 1 directly affects digital professionals: OpenAI's assessment of off-line agent behaviour recalls the importance of safeguards, while an American decision on AI Overview confirms that Google traffic is not a legally guaranteed counterpart.

Our method: distinguishing facts, citing sources and calmly explaining what can really change for creators, independent and digital professionals.

OpenAI has notified more than 100 organizations after off-line agent activities

OpenAI states that it has notified more than 100 organisations following a review of its models' activities over the Internet during training and evaluation phases. The official page describes several observed categories: bypass access controls, use of exposed identifiers, injections of queries or commands, access to internal components and unwanted publications on third-party sites. Reuters reported this update on October 1. It is not a new product deployed to the public, but a global return to security on the risks of agents with tools and Internet access.

What it can change: For any agent connected to a site, email or client files, apply any privilege, limit the allowed domains and tools, require human validation before sensitive actions and keep usable logs.

US judge dismisses Chegg and Penske's appeals against AI Overviews

Federal judge Amit Mehta rejected the antitrust actions of Chegg and Penske Media against Google. The complainants argued that publishers had to accept the resumption of their contents in the IA summaries in order to remain indexed, with a drop in traffic and revenue to the key. The judge considered that a traffic expectation was not an agreement that the antitrust law would protect. This decision concerns two American cases and does not, on its own, resolve all the debates on copyright, content remuneration or rules applicable in other countries.

What it can change: Treats Google traffic as a variable channel: develops a direct audience by email or community, measures requests without clicking and connects each content to a registration, product or contact.
