TikTok plugs shopping on the AI, Shopify confirms the shift of discovery

Two announcements published these last 24 hours converge: theIA becomes an interface of discovery, comparison and preparation for purchase. TikTok further automates the course and campaigns, while Shopify measures the adoption announced by consumers. For independents, the priority is to make their offers understandable by machines without sacrificing human trust.

Our method: distinguishing facts, citing sources and calmly explaining what can really change for creators, independent and digital professionals.

TikTok unveils Shopping Assistant and opens more campaigns to AI agents

TikTok announces Shopping Assistant, a conversational agent who answers product questions in the page displayed by its built-in browser, as well as new shopping and prospecting paths. Its TikTok for Business MCP connector allows compatible agents to plan, run and manage campaigns. Smart+ Creative Selection brings together in the same approval process the advertiser's creations, those generated with Symphony and certain designer content. TikTok, however, invites interested advertisers to contact their trading partner to verify their eligibility and the tests available: it is therefore not a general deployment confirmed in France.

What it can change: Structure clearly products, services, prices, stock, delivery and conditions so that an assistant can interpret them. Before automated reuse of creative content, check the contract, duration, territories, formats and advertising rights granted.

Shopify estimates that 65 % buyers will use theIA for at least one task during the holidays

Shopify's 2026 global report indicates that 65 % consumers interviewed plan to use AI for at least one shopping task during parties, including finding offers or discovering products. However, only a third party claims to trust an agent to make the purchase in its place. The study is based on an online survey conducted in July among 18 000 adults in nine markets, including France, completed in August by 7 500 small and medium-sized business leaders. These responses measure stated intentions, not actual purchases.

What it can change: Make each offer readable by a machine: target audience, problem solved, profits, price, availability, delivery, proof and conditions. Then keep a clear, reassuring and different human page to turn the recommendation into a decision.
