THE VIFLY GUIDE · CHOOSE AN ACTIVITY
Recommend a useful offer and understand what triggers a commission.
Affiliate marketing pays for an action attributed to your recommendation under a programme's rules. It requires a relevant audience, real trust and calculations based on approved commissions, rather than clicks alone.
A clear offer.
An identified client.
Understand the need and compare honestly
Research, comparison, distribution, updates and tracking approvals.
BEFORE YOU START
Is this the right model
for you?
A relevant audience or qualified search traffic is needed.
An option to explore if.
You know an audience and can compare offers while explaining their limitations. You agree to recommend only what meets the need, even when another option pays more.
- Understand the need and compare honestly
- Create useful, transparent content
- Reading attribution and validation rules
Hold off for now if…
Avoid this model if you only plan to copy links into messages or buy traffic without doing the calculations. Without a relevant audience or useful content, the advertised commission says nothing about potential income.
- Costs to plan for
- Content and acquisition need work; paid advertising is risky without reliable measurement.
- Stock and delivery
- No stock; dependence on the programme's terms and tracking.
A CLIENT, A NEED, A DELIVERABLE
What exactly can you sell?
Example offers to adapt to your skills. None of these formats guarantees demand or a sale.
A specialist comparison
People choosing between several solutions to the same need.
Specific criteria, limitations and a visible explanation of the links that may earn you money.
A usage tutorial
An audience that wants to carry out a task with a tool.
A relevant demonstration, prerequisites and alternatives; the recommendation remains separate from evidence of results.
An editorial selection
A community looking for resources that fit how it works.
A reasoned selection kept up to date, with important conditions and commercial interests disclosed.
FIND BUYERS BEFORE PRODUCING EVERYTHING
Where can you find your
first clients?
An audience is just one possible channel. A useful conversation with the right person often teaches you more than an untargeted post.
Start with a real purchase question
Choose a problem your audience is already trying to solve. Content that answers a specific question can be useful; a product list without selection criteria offers little help with a decision.
Choose the programme after the need
Examine the offer's quality, after-sales service, terms and remuneration. Check the permitted channels, attribution window, exclusions and approval rules.
Build a relationship based on consent
Publish on your own channels and to subscribers who have agreed to receive your communications. Click and commission tracking must comply with the applicable data and consent rules.
Approach prospects with a relevant message and an easy opt-out. The rules differ by audience and channel: CNIL guidance ↗.
- 01
Define the audience and problem
Describe a specific decision: choosing a tool, equipment or service. Gather the evidence needed to recommend without turning every criticism into a sales argument.
- 02
Read the programme agreement
Check which actions earn commission, cancellations, payment thresholds, delays and restrictions. A pending sale is not yet a commission you have definitively earned.
- 03
Create a transparent recommendation
Clearly disclose your commercial interest and explain who the offer does or does not suit. Add a useful demonstration or comparison and keep pricing information up to date.
- 04
Measure through to approval
Track qualified visits, clicks, attributed actions, confirmed commissions and production costs. If you test advertising, set a maximum acceptable loss and check that the programme permits it.
GUIDANCE, NOT PROMISES
What the figures tell us.
And what they do not tell you.
Market data, a statistical income measure and your sales scenario measure different things. Always keep the period and population beside the figure. The suggested actions alongside them are our editorial analysis.

330 €median monthly business income for micro-entrepreneurs
Half of micro-entrepreneurs earn less than this amount, excluding zero incomes.
All occupations and working hours combined. This is neither turnover nor an online earnings target.
Read the source and its scope ↗We have not identified representative official national statistics that allow reliable comparisons of beginners' earnings from UGC, affiliate marketing, templates or subscription content. The simulator's amounts are therefore adjustable assumptions, rather than average earnings for these activities.
MAKE THE PROJECT'S ECONOMICS WORK
A sale does not become
your entire income.
Use the same period for every field: a pilot, a month or a launch. Start with sales actually received, after refunds and excluding VAT.
- Price × salesRevenue excluding VAT
- - purchases, tools, fees, advertising.Full costs
- − a reserve you chooseScenario balance
TEACHING EXAMPLE · NO GUARANTEED INCOME
- Revenue excluding VAT
- 360 €
- Balance after costs and reserve
- 190 €
- Balance per hour spent
- 7,92 €
Understand the starting example
Teaching example: 30 fully validated actions, each earning a commission of 12 €, produce 360 € in commission turnover. The 12 € is the commission, not the price paid by the buyer. With 80 € in assumed costs and a hypothetical reserve of 90 €, or 25 % of turnover, the balance is 190 € for 24 hours allocated to the chosen period. No conversion rate or future volume is guaranteed.
This balance is not net income for tax purposes. The calculation determines neither social contributions due, income tax nor VAT. It does not replace a complete budget or a check of your applicable regime.
Check the framework for my activity ↗Do not multiply the number of views by a commission to announce an income figure. Cancellations, attribution, payment delays and costs can change the result; the fictional reserve does not replace any social contribution or tax calculation.
THE POINTS THAT CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING
What is best avoided.
A high commission can hide an unsuitable product or conditions that are difficult to meet.
Do not claim personal experience or results that you have not actually observed.
The programme may change its rules or end; a catalogue of links dependent on a single partner remains vulnerable.
Pyramid selling and systems paid primarily through recruitment are not a normal version of commercial affiliate marketing.

suited to your activity.
French guidance checked on the guide's verification date. The applicable regime depends on your profession, customers and circumstances; consult the sources and get help where needed.
Register and invoice
Choose the appropriate framework, check the formalities and organise quotes, invoices and payment tracking. Receiving payment online does not make the activity invisible.
Official procedures ↗Inform and respect the customer
Clarify the seller's identity, offer, price, deadlines and applicable rights. A digital product does not automatically exclude the right of withdrawal.
Online selling rules ↗Check the rules of the profession
Coaching does not remove the qualification requirements of a regulated activity. Vocational training has its own formalities; a platform does not create eligibility for funding.

QUESTIONS BEFORE CHOOSING
Straight answers.
Is affiliate marketing suitable without an audience?
You need at least a credible way to reach relevant people. Search visibility or a newsletter can help build this audience, but take time and guarantee neither visits nor commissions.
Must I disclose an affiliate link?
Make the commercial purpose clear and identifiable, close to the relevant content and in a suitable format. A disclosure buried on a distant page does not replace understandable information.
When should a commission count in my calculation?
To assess viability, distinguish between pending, approved and paid commission. Then apply the accounting and tax rules for your activity; a partner's reports do not replace your own records.
