You want to turn that reading into concrete action?

Keep this in mind: your content attracts attention, but your ecosystem turns that attention into clients, bookings and opportunities.

Google does not remove the sources of its IA responses: the company has instead announced more integrated links, an experimental highlight of official websites and a test of designer names clickable in AI Mode. For creators, coaches, consultants, freelancers and trainers, the opportunity is not to look for a new GEO hack. It consists of making its expertise sufficiently clear, attributable and useful for a link, when it appears, to make it want to be open.

The official announcement dates from 15 October 2026. At 16 October 2026, several statutes must be distinguished: the increase in integrated links is announced as an ongoing evolution; the section dedicated to official sites is a test; recent articles are being deployed in more countries and languages without an exhaustive list; The names of creators and editors clickable on the video results are also being tested. The Search Profiles to which these names may lead remain reserved for Canada, India and the United States.

What Google actually announced on 15 October 2026

In his announcement More ways to connect with the web from SearchGoogle presents five changes to facilitate Web exploration from AI Mode and AI Overviews. The first relates to links embedded directly in the words or expressions of an IA response. Google claims to have increased their presence and announces that they will be placed higher in the response.

The second change is more experimental. Google's going test a section at the top of some answers to highlight one or two official sites, with an explanation of the usefulness of each destination. The logical example would be the official page of an approach, product, organization or creator when the Internet user is looking for exactly where to act or verify information.

The third change concerns current events. Visual carousels of recent articles are beginning to be deployed in more geographical areas and languages. Google does not provide a complete list of countries. These carousels can also report the sources that the user has chosen in Preferred Sources. This customization function has already been analyzed in the guide VIFLY of Google Preferred Sources and Visibility.

Google also makes some links to related articles more visible, with thumbnails at the end of the answers. Finally, the company states that it started the week of 15 October, at test in AI Mode designer names and editors clickable on video results. These names refer to their Search Profiles to provide more context about the person or organization that publishes.

More links does not automatically mean more traffic

The announcement corrects an obvious weakness of the generative responses: when a synthesis occupies most of the screen, sources can become secondary or difficult to identify. More, better placed and more contextualized links increase the opportunities for visits. However, they do not guarantee printing, clicking or conversion.

Google recalls in its official documentation on search IA features that no special optimization is required to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode. A page must be indexed, allowed to display an extract and respect the basics of the SEO. There is no mandatory AI file or special Schema.org markup giving access to these results. Even a technically perfect page is not guaranteed to be explored, indexed or displayed.

The measure also remains imperfect. Google is currently improving the performance of IA features in Search Console's "Web" search type. A site owner can therefore track impressions, clicks and pages, but it does not have a separate report allowing for precisely assigning each visit to AI Mode or AI Overview. VIFLY analysis on Google AI Overviews and Unsecured Traffic therefore remains fully valid: visibility in Google is a borrowed audience, not a contractual consideration.

The VIFLY point of view: the issue is no longer just to be mentioned in an answer. It is to be identifiable before the click and convincing after the click.

A link placed very high can attract a low-skilled visit if its title and destination are vague. Conversely, a link to an original method, a case study or an official page can generate fewer clicks but more confidence. So the right metric is not "how many times did Google take over my sentence?", but "how many people then understood my value and realized a useful action? »

The real change: source, identity and destination come closer

The five innovations have one thing in common. Google not only highlights information; He tries to show better where it comes from, who wears it and where to continue. The official website answers the question "where to act?". The name of the creator responds to "who speaks?". Integrated links and associated articles respond to "how to deepen?".

For an independent, this convergence transforms digital presence into a system. An isolated article may respond to a request. A video can capture attention. A social profile can show personality. But if names, descriptions, subjects and destinations contradict each other, both humans and engines find it difficult to connect the whole.

Building a coherent identity does not mean repeating the same text everywhere. A stable name, a recognizable professional presentation, precise editorial themes and a central destination should be used. Article VIFLY on Google UGC Fresh Data already stressed the importance of public content, attributable and linked to a sustainable URL. The novelty of 15 October adds a visible layer: this attribution can become a clickable element in the search interface itself.

Search profiles illustrate this logic, but two shortcuts must be avoided. First, they are currently available only in Canada, India and the United States. France, and thus La Réunion, is not included in the official list at 16 October 2026. Second, Google specifies that creating a Search profile does not directly improve the ranking. The function is used to gather content, accounts and links; a subscription from this profile can then customize Discover for the user concerned.

The lack of availability in France does not justify the tendency. A creator can now harmonize his/her identity, check the links between his/her website and accounts, sign his/her content, create reference pages and organize his/her best resources. This work remains useful for his audience, his classic SEO and other response engines, even if Google never opens a profile.

Two practical examples for creators and freelancers

Example 1: a consultant publishes a method that theIA cannot reduce to a definition

An organization consultant publishes an article entitled "How to prepare a four-day week in a six-person team." It does not simply summarize the known benefits. It describes its protocol, the constraints encountered, an anonymized case, the indicators followed and the situations where its method fails. Its name, role, date and service page are explicit.

If Google resumes part of the reasoning in AI Mode, the link has a clear reason to be open: access the audit grid, understand the complete case or check the author's experience. The consultant can then propose a resource, a case study or a diagnosis. It does not seek to "write for AI"; it publishes evidence that the synthesis does not replace.

Example 2: a videographer prepares her identity before Google profiles arrive in France

A video designer specializing in responsible tourism in La Réunion publishes on YouTube, Instagram and her own website. Its name varies slightly depending on the platforms, some descriptions are old and its videos refer to several links without hierarchy. It is not eligible for Search Profile, even with more 10 000 subscribers, as the function is not open in France.

She can nevertheless prepare the ground: choose a stable identity, update her bios, clearly associate her site, create a page that presents her editorial line and publish signed guides related to her videos. One LinkHub VIFLY can then centralize its guides, channel, collaborations and offer without inventing a false SEO promise. If Google expands later Search profiles, its ecosystem will already be consistent; If he does not, his audience will still benefit from a clearer course.

Nuances, limitations and points to bear in mind

  • Part of the announcement remains at the test stage. The "official sites" section and the names of clickable creators are not a general deployment. Their shape, frequency and perimeter can evolve.
  • Not all countries are specified. Google is talking about a carousel deployment in more places and languages, without an exhaustive inventory. It would be misleading to announce a certain availability in France for each element.
  • Search profiles is highly limited. The function is reserved for Canada, India and the United States, requires at least 10 000 subscribers on YouTube, Instagram, X or TikTok and requires an account managed by a major person. It does not directly improve the ranking.
  • Preferred Sources customizes an individual experience. Being chosen by a reader can strengthen the presence with this reader; It is not a vote that pushes the whole field.
  • More links can coexist with fewer clicks. A complete answer can satisfy a simple question without a visit. The content must therefore provide a depth, proof or action that the summary does not replace.
  • Public identity requires rigour. A consistent profile also increases the visibility of errors, outdated information or excessive promises. Facts, links and offers must be maintained.

Finally, avoid providers who promise a guaranteed presence in AI Mode with a secret file or a proprietary markup. Google explicitly states that there is no special technical requirement. The fundamentals remain indexing, quality, accessibility, internal links, good page experience and structured data faithful to visible content. The VIFLY guide on google and SEO for creators helps to put these principles into a broader strategy.

What to do now? The VIFLY Action Plan in six stages

  1. Check your digital identity. Look for your name, brand and main aliases. Note the inconsistencies of name, photo, activity, site and associated accounts.
  2. Choose an official destination. Determine the page that best explains who you are, what you bring and where to find your content. This page must remain stable, accessible and up-to-date.
  3. Strengthen three reference contents. Add a real experience, an example, a method, a limit and a clearly identified author. Prefer three memorable resources to thirty interchangeable pages.
  4. Connect content, profiles and offers. Use descriptive internal links, update the links of your bios and create a consistent path between discovery, proof and next step.
  5. Measure an action after the click. Follow the registration, request, reservation, download or contact, not just the visit. Compare the quality of results over several weeks.
  6. Monitor deployment without building on it. Check periodically for eligibility to Search Profiles and Google ads. Do not interrupt your strategy because a tested function is not yet available in your country.

VIFLY continuity is simple: the engine creates an opportunity for visibility; a clear resource brings understanding; identity and evidence build trust; a legible course leads to action. If your content is dispersed between multiple networks and offers, centralize the next steps in a LinkHub rather than waiting for a Google profile to organize your activity for you.
