Setting up your creator business: proceed in the right order.

Registration alone isn’t enough. Before and after you’ve registered your creator business, there are a few steps to take to ensure your creator business is truly ready to invoice, is protected and gets off to a smooth start.

1. Prepare the elements that really shape your creator business

Formalities are simpler when the basic decisions are clear before you start.

  • Describe your creator business in simple terms: what you’re selling, to whom, where and how you’ll be paid. This description may affect the applicable rules.
  • Choose a registered office address and check whether your creator business requires any specific qualifications, insurance, authorisation or registration.
  • Compare your tax regime and business structure with your expenses, your target income and any potential partnership plans; don’t choose simply because a particular legal status seems quick to set up.

2. Complete the incorporation formalities in the right place

Since 1 January 2023, the formalities for setting up, amending and winding up a business have been handled via the one-stop shop for business formalities managed by the INPI.

  • The documents required vary: personal details, address, business activity, tax and social security choices, and may include additional information or supporting documents depending on the structure of your creator business.
  • Check the details before confirming: an inaccuracy regarding the business activity or address may require a correction later on.
  • Keep the supporting documents you’ve submitted and the confirmation of submission. They’ll be useful for tracking the application and responding to any further requests.

3. Get your creator business up and running

Registration is just the start, not the end of the administrative process.

  • Organise your invoicing to suit your creator business and keep your supporting documents: numbering, company details, price, VAT where applicable and mandatory information must be tailored to your specific situation.
  • Separate your creator business transactions from your personal expenses right from the start. Depending on your tax regime and turnover, a dedicated or business bank account may be compulsory or simply very useful.
  • Enter your deadlines into a simple tracker: tax returns, contributions, VAT, insurance and renewals. Your VIFLY dashboard keeps your plan private whilst keeping your next steps visible.
